Welcome to the Office of University Engagement and Enrichment

A Message from the Office of University Engagement and Enrichment

Welcome to the University of Rochester’s Office of University Engagement and Enrichment. Our mission is to foster an environment where every member of our community feels valued and empowered. We are committed to ensuring fairness and ensuring that all voices are heard and respected. In the spirit of Meliora—ever better—we strive to continuously improve and advance our efforts.

Our work centers around five key institutional priorities:

  • Developing and maintaining infrastructure that supports balanced treatment, representation, and respect for all individuals.
  • Enhancing the recruitment and retention of a wide range of backgrounds among faculty, staff, and students.
  • Cultivating a welcoming climate and culture within the University community.
  • Advancing the University’s mission through the lens of multi-partiality and representation.
  • Engaging with the community to promote a society where everyone is valued.

Our Mission in Action

The Office of University Engagement and Enrichment plays a pivotal role in shaping the university’s culture and policies. Our efforts are focused on several key areas:

  • Medical Education: We integrate principles of balance and accessibility into the medical curriculum, ensuring that future healthcare professionals are equipped to provide compassionate and culturally competent care. Our programs and workshops address health disparities and promote understanding of varied patient populations.
  • Educating Students: We offer a range of educational initiatives aimed at fostering a welcoming campus environment. From training sessions to workshops, we strive to educate and empower students to be advocates for evenhandedness and respect in their personal and professional lives.
  • Hiring Practices: Our office collaborates with university departments to implement even handed hiring practices. We are dedicated to attracting and retaining faculty and staff that reflect the rich tapestry of our student body and the broader community.
  • Patient Care: In partnership with the University of Rochester Medical Center, we work to ensure that all patients receive balanced and respectful care. Our initiatives focus on reducing health disparities and improving access to quality healthcare for a variety of populations.
